Second Surgery for Xavier |
|
Today we found out the date for Xaviers Hip Surgery (bilateral varus derotational osteotomy). Xavier will be at The Royal Childrens Hospital (RCH) on Monday 12th December for the surgery. He will be in for at least 3-4 days minimum depending on how well the pain management is going.
This is the second half of the surgery that he was to undertake back in May 2011.
The surgery is aiming to stop his hips from dislocating in the long term without Xavier loosing his current mobility. Xavier is quite unique in the fact that he should not be walking, and the doctors at RCH do not want him to loose his independence.
He will have the school holidays to recover from the surgery and will have plenty of physio over the school holidays to get him strong and fit again ready for a big year in 'Grade 6'.
He will have the best doctors and care in the world, If you would like to visit please call us, we are sure Xavier would love to see some of his friends. |

Xavier is 12 years old, he has little to no Sensory Motor Skills, he requires a wheelchair and walker to move around and a communication book to speak.

Cerebral Palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood, affecting 1 in 500 children in Australia.
Even with these challenges, Xavier is one of the happiest boys you will ever have the fortune to meet. Xavier has a cheeky sense of humour, and his laugh is nothing but infectious. Xavier enjoys music, from listening to Paul Jamieson to playing his guitar.
Another of Xaviers favourite pastimes is Art, particulary painting.
One of our favourite quotes that inspires us, comes from one of Xaviers favourite movies Meet the Robinsons.
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Xaviers curiosity, and the ability to learn new things and overcome the obstacles that he has already faced is in itself inspirational. This site we hope will help you get to know Xavier, but also all of his friends who help him along his journey. |
